Memphis New Year's weather forecast: Rain to help ring in 2024

The new year is almost upon us which means parties, parties and more parties this weekend.

If you are planning to be out and about in the City of Blues this weekend, you might want to bundle up and get those galoshes out. The National Weather Service has predicted a 30-50% chance of rain for most of New Year's Eve.

While the entire evening won't be filled with thunderstorms, rain is predicted to start about 6 p.m., lighten up around midnight, and finish up around 5 a.m.

Here's what to expect:

New Year's Eve weather in Memphis

Expect to see dry weather and moderating temperatures on Sunday. Highs will be in the upper 40s to around 60 degrees. Lows will be in the upper 30s. There will be a North wind of around 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 20% for the entire evening.

Midnight on New Year's Eve is predicted to be about 37 degrees with a 10-20% chance of rain. The wind chill will be about 29 degrees. It will be a bit cloudy with 76% cloud coverage at midnight as well.

New Year's Day weather in Memphis

There will be a cold front moving through the region Sunday night and Monday morning. As the front moves through the region, there will be light rain proceeding it. Some rain could be mixed with snow before it ends in the early morning.

Monday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 44 degrees. There will be a North wind of 10 to 15 mph. The evening will be mostly clear, with a low of around 25 degrees. The wind will lessen to about 5 to 10 mph.
