Men of Tomorrow scholarship, awards program goes virtual May 21

The Men of Tomorrow Foundation’s 32nd annual Scholarship Program will be virtual on Saturday, May 21, at 7 p.m. The virtual presentation will be via YouTube and Facebook. A link to the virtual presentation will also be posted on both the Men of Tomorrow website at www.menoftomorrowprogram.org and on the Men of Tomorrow Facebook page.

The Master of Ceremonies will be Nicholas Crowe, according to a news release. He is a native Oak Ridger, graduate of Oak Ridge High School, and Alumni of the Men of Tomorrow Foundation Program. He works as an exterior purchasing specialist for Volkswagen Group of America. At Volkswagen of America, he uses his experiences in sales and procurement to negotiate large agreements with automotive suppliers and manages supplier supply chains.

Crowe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a master's degree in business administration from Strayer University, according to the release.

Each graduating senior will receive a scholarship and a Men of Tomorrow gift. Awards will also be given to the program participants, as well as recognition awards.

The graduating seniors receiving scholarships are Ginieya Anderson, Reginald Johnson Jr., Darren Osborne Jr., and TaKiyah Stewart.

The Men of Tomorrow Foundation is a mentoring program that promotes the development of a good self-image, positive role models, academic achievement, career development, and cultural development among youth. The program was established in 1990 and has awarded scholarships to deserving young men and women since its existence. All activities of the Men of Tomorrow Program are supported through generous contributions from businesses and the community. There has never been a charge to the participants in the program for any of the activities, including field trips.

The program is open to young men and young women in the surrounding area, from sixth through 12th grade. The program currently has more than 40 participants. The Men of Tomorrow kickoff meeting for the 2022-2023 school year will be the third Sunday in September.

The virtual program is open to the public. The Foundation continues to solicit donations as it is through donations that the Foundation is able to offer this grassroots program to community youth.
