Men's basketball coach Mike Miller earns 300th win at Alvernia

Dec. 16—Alvernia men's basketball coach Mike Miller earned the 300th victory of his college coaching career as the Golden Wolves beat York College 63-58 Wednesday night in a MAC Commonwealth game at York.

Miller, who is in his 19th season, is 300-171. He has led the Golden Wolves to six conference titles and earned six bids to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

In Wednesday's game, Nigel Cooke and Jalil Schenck each scored 13 points for Alvernia (2-1, 6-2).

York (0-4, 2-6), which trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half, got as close as 61-58 with 28 seconds left, but that was it.

Also for the Golden Wolves, Malik Green scored 11 points, and Malik Slay and Robert Mullan 10 each.

Kai Cipalla led York with 15 points.

Including high school boys basketball, Miller has an overall coaching record of 450-212.

He coached at Kutztown for one season, going 14-10, and Reading High for six seasons, going 145-31.

Women's basketball

Alvernia 72, York 54: Wednesday at York, Taliyah Malone had 15 points and nine rebounds to lead the Golden Wolves (3-0, 7-4) over the Spartans (1-3, 3-6) in a MAC Commonwealth game.

Tyra Robinson had 13 points, Kayla Williams 11 points and Jordan Karmonick nine points and 10 rebounds for Alvernia.

Bradi Zumbrum led York with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
