MEN'S HOCKEY: Former Beaver Kyle Brodie joins Minnesota Wilderness staff
Aug. 2—CLOQUET — A former Bemidji State men's hockey player is heading to the North American Hockey League as a coach.
Former Beaver Kyle Brodie has agreed to join the coaching staff of the Minnesota Wilderness, the team announced on Monday.
Brodie, a native of Northglenn, Colo., travels to Cloquet after working with AAA programs in Wenatchee, Wash., for the last six seasons. He served as the head coach of the Wenatchee Wilderness 16U AAA team in 2021-22 as well as an assistant coach for the Wenatchee Wolves 18U AAA team.
"It's an awesome opportunity to further my career and seems to be the right stepping stone," Brodie said in a release. "I'm excited to get the season going."
During his collegiate career, Brodie played with BSU from 2010-13, where he earned all-WCHA academic honors in 2010-11 and 2011-12. He transferred to UW-Stevens Point for his final two seasons in the NCAA.
Brodie completed his playing career in 2015-16, competing as a defenseman in 51 games with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League. Before that, he skated in four games with the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL.
Brodie played junior hockey in the NAHL with the Wenatchee Wild during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.
