Dec. 4—North Mentor Centenary United Methodist Church, 9290 Lakeshore Blvd. in Mentor, will be celebrating the 50th year of its Live Nativity Scene from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16 and 17.

"The outdoor replica of the birthplace of Jesus is our way of putting Christ back into Christmas," the church stated in a news release. "It has been filled with members and friends of the congregation over the years dressing as the participants from so long ago.

"Each year, weather permitting, the public is invited to place their baby in the manger to play the part of Jesus. Many have grown into the adult parts with their children continuing the tradition."

There will also be live music in the sanctuary each night while refreshments will be served in fellowship hall surrounded by photo albums from past years. Former pastors from the last 50 years have been invited back to join in the celebration, the release stated.
