On the Menu: Food Truck Friday adds more options this week; eastside Pizza Hut closed

Food Truck Fridays in Bloomington begin the 2023 season on April 5.

After cold temperatures and rain canceled last week's Food Truck Friday, this week's forecast looks better and the band scheduled for last week, Chair in the Air, will be playing this week. More food trucks are scheduled to participate, with Pinoy Garden Cafe and Elli-May's BBQ making their first appearance this year.

Food Truck Friday will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Switchyard Park. Ysabel Cluver will perform 5:30-6 p.m., followed by Chair in the Air at 6-8 p.m. Participating food trucks include Uno Mas, Bloom Burger, Elli-May's Smoked BBQ, Doner Kebab, Chocolate Moose, The Big Cheeze, Pinoy Garden Cafe (from noon on), J & J A Taste of Home (beginning at 4:30 p.m.), Arepa Burger and Wever's Smoke Eaters BBQ.

Eastside Pizza Hut closed

The Pizza Hut at 250 S. Pete Ellis Drive is closed temporarily according to a Google search of Bloomington's Pizza Hut locations. The website also lists the location as closed. The restaurants at 125 S. Franklin Road and inside the Target store at 2966 E. Third St. remain in business. There is new Pizza Hut located in Ellettsville, at 4264 N. Cypress Lane off Ind. 46 behind the Starbucks location. Calls to the Pete Ellis store and emails to Pizza Hut were not answered before press time.

BB's Market now open on Sundays

After recently launching a breakfast menu, BB's Market is now open on Sundays as well. That means breakfast is available 6-11 a.m. daily at 1915 S. Walnut St.

Reservations may be needed for next couple of weeks

With Indiana University graduation on May 5 for graduate students and May 6 for undergrads, there will be lots of parents and family coming to Bloomington to celebrate and eating at local restaurants. Locals who are planning to go out probably want to make a reservation now. Some restaurants have been taking reservations for months and may already be full for that weekend.

The following weekend is Mother's Day, another popular time for people to dine out, so make those reservations now if you haven't already.
