On the Menu: Food Truck Friday begins this week; Lennie's celebrates Dyngus Day

Friday is the beginning of the 2023 season for Food Truck Friday, which will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Switchyard Park, 1601 S. Rogers St. Besides food trucks serving a variety of things to eat, there will be music from 6 to 8 p.m. by bluegrass duo The Hammer & The Hatchet.

While more food trucks will be added as the season warms up, this week the lineup includes Big D's BBQ, Arepa Burger, Bloom Burger, La Poblana, Una Mas, Big Cheeze, Doner Kebab, Chocolate Moose, Wever's BBQ and Taste of Home, a new addition from Indianapolis. For past events, Taste of Home has created homemade egg rolls filled with mac and cheese, pulled pork and more, as well as loaded fries, jerk tacos and desserts. Stop by Friday to see what's offered by Taste and all the other food trucks.

FARM offers Easter specials on Sunday

FARMbloomington will have its regular brunch menu from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday but will be adding some extras for Easter. In addition to the Farmhouse and garlic fries and 4th generation biscuits for starters, patrons can select a two-course meal for $30 per person.

The first-course options include butternut squash soup, soup of the day, Greek yogurt parfait, spring fruit salad and a green "Good Life" salad topped with FARM vinaigrette. Second-course selections include mushrooms and soft scrambled eggs with biscuits; steak and eggs; soft scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and fennel salad; an oven bake with two eggs, artichokes, tomatoes, potatoes and cheese; a Canadian egg poutine with french fries, kielbasa gravy, cheese curds, and soft scrambled eggs; bacon and egg breakfast pizza with spinach and smoked gouda; and a French toast casserole with fruit and chantilly cream and Easter candies.

Irish Lion serves Easter Sunday brunch

The Irish Lion Restaurant, at 212 W. Kirkwood Ave., will have an Easter brunch 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9 with a full menu available until 10 p.m. The brunch will feature omelets, Scotch eggs, leg o'lamb, lamb chops and rack of lamb as well as Dublin City breakfast of corned beef hash and eggs; eggs Benedict with smoked salmon; and sausage biscuits and gravy; and French toast. Lennie’s Dyngus Day specials return April 10

As a way to celebrate the end of Lent a day after Easter, Lennie's will celebrate Dyngus Day with a special Polish-American menu available 5-9 p.m. April 10. Klopsiki is the appetizer of Polish meatballs covered in sour cream and mushroom gravy. A vegan option has Gardein plant-based meatballs and vegan gravy.

Main entrees are goulash of beef braised in red wine, mushroom and sour cream sauce; smoked pork kielbasa with a side of horseradish mustard; and cheese and potato pierogi. All are served with dill smashed potatoes and vegetables. Special dessert is house-made apple cake with Chocolate Moose vanilla ice cream.

Culver's adds smokehouse barbecue options

A smoky new menu item is coming to Culver’s, and it’s sure to delight burger and chicken lovers alike.

Beginning April 10 for a limited time, a Smokehouse BBQ Cheddar Pub Burger and Crispy Chicken Sandwich will be available at Culver’s locations nationwide, including the Bloomington restaurant at 1918 W. Third St.

Culver’s Smokehouse BBQ Cheddar can be either a burger or chicken sandwich. Each has a sweet and smoky barbecue sauce, layers of sharp cheddar, crispy onion rings, pickles and signature mayo, all served on a cheddar bun. The sandwiches will be available through June 11 or while supplies last.
