Food Truck Wednesdays along Sales Street in downtown Ellettsville begin for the 2023 season on May 10.

Just like spring wildflowers popping up, the second day of food trucks coming together to provide a variety of food and beverages begins this week.

Food Truck Wednesdays returns to Ellettsville May 10 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participating food trucks include Bloom Burger, Wever's Smoke Eaters BBQ, Arepa Burger, La Poblana Taco Truck, The Chocolate Moose, Doner Kebab and Jay's Kitchen.

Two blocks of Sale Street in downtown Ellettsville are closed to traffic for Food Truck Wednesdays. There will be live music most weeks and the events continue through August. While many of the participating food trucks also are part of Bloomington's Food Truck Fridays at Switchyard Park, there are often a few that are only at the Ellettsville event, which began in May 2018.

Eat some food, learn about Ivy Tech's hospitality program, labs

An Ivy Tech Community College's program will be showcasing its hospitality and 2023 graduates at a special event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 11 on the Yellowwood restaurant patio on the Bloomington campus. It's a casual event with food, games and recognition of the recent graduates. It serves as the final project for the students in the culinary class that cooked and served meals in the Yellowwood restaurant for the past eight weeks. There will be a brief ceremony outside beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Ivy Tech chefs will give demonstrations and people will be able to tour the school's cooking labs as well. The food, including some desserts, will be self-serve but service staff will be on hand.

Besides food, there will be mocktails, a cash bar with beer and wine, passed hors d'oeuvres. Tickets are $25 per person with proceeds going to the Hospitality Foundation Fund for student travel. For more information, go to yellowwoodrestaurant.com; to purchase tickets, go to https://bit.ly/3ponPXx. Yellowwood Restaurant is near Entrance 7 at 200 Daniels Way in Bloomington.
