After delays, Riviera Maya will be opening on Dec. 1 at 116 S. Franklin Road. The Mexican restaurant's co-owner Mark Johnson said the restaurant will have its own unique menu even though there are other Riviera Maya locations in Anderson, Fishers and Lafayette. The restaurant was first expected to open in May but delays in permits and construction caused the delay.

For the Bloomington restaurant's menu, there's a complete page dedicated to the steak options and seafood will be featured as well. The burrito gigante will be served on a turkey platter — it's that big.

Some of the favorites, mentioned in a previous column, include street tacos and a seafood chipotle dish that includes grilled shrimp, scallops and pineapple marinated in a chipotle sauce.

The restaurant will seat about 300 people and have a patio out front near the entrance to the bar, which will include Riviera Maya's own tequila.

Peach Cobbler Factory also opening soon

After weeks of delays, it looks like Peach Cobbler Factory will open at 115 N. College Ave. later this month. The exact date isn't known yet but there are plans for a grand opening. The dessert-centered restaurant will have 12 flavors of cobbler, vanilla bean ice cream, cookies, banana pudding and other sweet treats.
