Merced family kidnapping: Alberto Salgado sentenced for destroying evidence

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The brother of the man on trial for the kidnapping and deaths of four family members was sentenced on Wednesday for his part in the 2022 kidnapping.

Alberto Salgado, the brother of Jesus Manuel Salgado, was found guilty of criminal conspiracy, accessory to the crime, and destroying evidence. Alberto Salgado was given a three-year and eight-month sentence, with time served and credits. He will likely serve for 22 months.

Investigators said Jesus was identified as a suspect in the kidnapping and deaths of Aroohi Dheri, Jasleen Kaur, Jasdeep Singh, and Amandeep Singh. Investigators said Jesus had kidnapped the family at gunpoint from their trucking business near Highway 59 and 8th Street on October 3, 2022.

Jesus Manuel Salgado is due in court on March 4, and prosecutors tell YourCentralValley.com that they intend to push for the death penalty.
