Mercer International: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) _ Mercer International Inc. (MERC) on Thursday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $72.7 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of $1.11 per share. Losses, adjusted to extinguish debt, came to $1.04 per share.

The pulp company posted revenue of $331.2 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $9.6 million, or 15 cents per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $1.62 billion.

Mercer International shares have dropped 13% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $10.71, a decrease of 30% in the last 12 months.
