Mercury rising: Killer Queen performs

Sep. 16—The band Queen existed in its initial and most well-known form for 21 years, from 1970 to 1991, when iconic vocalist Freddie Mercury died at age 45. It's a long run by rock band standards — one that tribute band Killer Queen has outlasted by nearly a decade. The British band, led by mustache-wearing and falsetto-sporting singer Patrick Myers, traces its origins to 1993 — the early days of grunge music. Queen's catalog is thick with hits, including Billboard No. 1 songs Another One Bites the Dust and Crazy Little Thing Called Love; Bohemian Rhapsody, which hit No. 2 on the charts; and We Are the Champions, No. 4. The band, named after one of Queen's early hits, is performing on back-to-back days after being forced to cancel a March 2020 show amid the pandemic. 8 pm.
