Mercy to take on Maryvale in The Classic
A Baltimore high school classic starts a new era this year when Mercy takes on Maryvale in the Classic. The Classic is an extension of Mercy rivalries that stretch back half a century. First, Seton Hall, IND, and now, Maryvale. And, this year marks the first time in 40 years that Mercy has a new coach heading into the big game. George Panageotou now leads the Mercy program after the retirement of Mary Ella Franz Marion, who won 411 games as Mercy's coach. Mercy won the B conference title last season and moved up to the A conference this year. Mercy and Maryvale tip off Friday night at Towson's SECU arena.
