Meriden man killed in head-on crash in Burlington

A Meriden man was killed in a head-on crash in Burlington early Friday morning, police said.

Investigators say Anthony H. Martocci, 38, was driving west on Route 4 near Route 179 in Burlington just after 6 a.m. when he crossed over the center median into eastbound traffic and collided head-on with a van, according to Connecticut State Police Troop L.

His Chevrolet Sonic stopped in the eastbound lane where it was struck, and Martocci was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The van, driven by 45-year-old Hector Dejesus, of Torrington, was headed east on Route 4. It came to a stop on the right shoulder and Dejesus was taken to St. Francis Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The van was owned by Cheshire-based company Fire Protection Testing Inc, police said.

The crash was still under investigation Sunday afternoon, police said.
