Mesa County Sheriffs continue search for missing endangered man

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office is searching for an endangered missing adult who walked out of his home Thursday evening.

75-year-old John Miketin left his home near the 2000 block of North Surrey Court in the Redlands; it’s believed he left on foot around 7:45 p.m. John suffers from dementia and was not properly dressed for the cold. Officials say due to his dementia, he has no direction or destination to be headed and more than likely has no idea how to get home.

A man matching his description was last seen walking eastbound on Broadway near Two Rivers Winery. He was last seen wearing a light gray windbreaker, blue jeans, black shoes and possibly an Air Force baseball cap. John is a white male, 5’5″ tall with white hair.

John is still missing after Mesa County deputies, Search and Rescue volunteers and community members spent Thursday night searching for him.

Mesa County Sheriffs are asking residents with properties or outbuildings in the area where John was reported missing to check their properties if possible. Officials say in a prior incident, John had walked from Grand Junction to Fruita before being located.

If you see John, call 911 immediately.
