Mesa couple opens 10th sub shop

Sep. 30—A Mesa couple has opened their 10th Firehouse Subs franchise.

Windy and Jerry Griffin opened the sub shop at 6920 E Baseline Road in Superstition Springs.

The Griffins became fans of Firehouse Subs over 12 years ago and now own and their venues include the one where they shared their first sandwich.

"We are thrilled to open our Superstition Springs Firehouse Subs and bring more leadership and growth opportunities to our growing restaurant team," said Windy.

"We take a lot of pride in feeding our friends and neighbors while providing heartfelt service, and we're glad to show new guests what we can offer them."

The Griffins also are supporting the brand's Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which has awarded over $79 million in grants across the country, including over $3 million in Arizona.

A portion of every sale at any Firehouse Subs in the United States benefits the foundation's mission of providing lifesaving equipment, funding and education to first responders and public safety organizations.

The Griffins' new Mesa restaurant boasts a hand-painted mural by Chief Mural Artist Joe Puskas, which features the Superstition Mountains, a Mesa Fire and Medical Department truck and a firefighter offering a Desert Mule Deer, a drink from one of Firehouse Subs' iconic pickle buckets.

The Superstition Springs Firehouse Subs restaurant is open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week.
