Mesquite Police Chief Charles Cato Steps Down After 5 Years

The city said Friday was Charles Cato's last day as chief and that a national search is currently underway for his replacement.

- Tonight at 6 o'clock, a North Texas city looking for a new police chief. About 45 minutes ago, in fact, we learned that Charles Cato left the Mesquite police department today was his last day.

In a news release, Cato said that it was time to move on to the next chapter. He has been the chief in Mesquite now for the last five years. A national search, we're told, is underway for his replacement.
