Not your average Monday.

Mary Martinez, a math teacher at Pinecrest Elementary School, got one of the biggest shocks of her career at the start of the workweek.

Dan Marino, who’d heard of her viral videos teaching her students using Miami Dolphins stats, presented her with two tickets to Super Bowl LVIII.

OK, so the Hall of Famer appeared via video to tell her the good news, but, we get it, he’s a busy guy. Marino is currently promoting a Michelob beer spot that will air on game day (more on that later).

“We want to thank you for being a Dolphins fan and an everyday NFL fan. Because of that, the NFL is going to send you to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas because of the work you’ve done,” said the legendary quarterback in the vid. “Go Fins, go to the Super Bowl, and have a great time, Mary!”

Martinez, also a huge Fins fan, was not only shocked by the generous gesture (seats to see the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the San Francisco 49ers cost upward of $10K), but way pleased that her creative teaching style has gained such national attention.

“My favorite thing has been the way that it has inspired other educators,” she told WSVN Channel 7 News. “Maybe they’re not passionate about the NFL. Find something you are passionate about and use it in your classroom.”

If you, unlike Martinez, aren’t going to Sin City and are sitting on your couch at home on the big night, don’t use halftime for your bathroom break. Because you’ll miss one of the biggest talkers of the night.

Marino will star in the aforementioned ad with another sports icon, Lionel Messi. Their Michelob ULTRA spot makes perfect sense, especially to locals because they’re two of the best (futbol/football) players South Florida has ever seen pass through.

There’s another third wheel, non-GOAT in the mix. That would be “Ted Lasso,” aka Jason Sudeikis.

In a just-released teaser for the ad titled “Superior Beach,” Marino is on a boat, the “Dan Marina,” anchored offshore, staring out, while ominous music plays. A soccer ball is being kicked around by beachgoers, and a bartender is standing at the tap. Suddenly, the beer runs out of the spout she is pouring, with a resounding hiss. The camera pans to Marino’s shocked expression, then to Sudeikis, looking confused, and finally, Messi, whose eyes are narrowed in rage.

The Engelbert Humperdinck classic suddenly comes on: “Quando, Quando, Quando.”

“Game on, 2/11/24,” reads the text over screen, the date of the mega match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers.

As you see in a subsequent teaser, all hope is not lost: Marino, Messi and Sudeikis will live to drink another day. The bartender rushes to save the day by dragging another keg across the sand while staring adoringly at “Dan the Man.”
