Metaphysical Market in Pottsville to offer magic-themed vendors on Oct. 15

Oct. 8—Crystals, candles, runes and other witchy wares will be the focus of an expansive marketplace event on Oct. 15 at the Pottsville Free Public Library.

The library is holding its third Metaphysical Market, featuring an assortment of spiritual and magic-themed vendors from around the region. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be held on three floors in the library.

There are currently 21 vendors registered for the event, and the library is still accepting vendor applications.

"This will be our biggest one yet," said Gina Bensinger, circulation supervisor.

Visitors at the Metaphysical Market can expect to see myriad items, including handmade crafts, candles, crystals, gem elixirs and bath and body products. There will also be tarot and rune readings.

The library held its inaugural Metaphysical Market on Oct. 23, 2021, and the second on April 30, pulling in more than 100 visitors for both events. Bensinger noted the events drew a crowd not typically associated with the library.

"It wasn't just the same people that we usually see in the library," she said.

Citing the success of last year's event, Bensinger will again hold the market in October, in time for Halloween.

Vendors on the lineup for the upcoming market include Mothers Magik, Flaming Rebel Candle Co., Witches Brew, Black Cat Metamart, Julie's Jewels and 6A Crystals, as well as authors Jeffrey Dengler and Dominic Murgido.

The library will also hold a used book sale on the day of the event, as well as a balloon artist for children.

Bensinger said that many of the vendors are home crafters not normally available to the public, so the event provides a unique opportunity for metaphysical shoppers in the region.

"There doesn't seem to be a big representation of this kind of thing in the area," she said, "so I was hoping to see it bring in some people, and I'm happy that it did."

Metaphysical stores in Schuylkill County include Nature's Way Emporium in Shenandoah and Tree of Life Shoppe in Ringtown.
