Morning newscast meteorologist Marisa Woloszyn, who joined WTMJ-TV (Channel 4) two years ago, is going back home.

A Detroit-area native, Woloszyn is leaving for a job at Detroit's WXYZ-TV, the Milwaukee station reported Wednesday. Her last day at Channel 4 is May 12.

Woloszyn joined Channel 4 in January 2021 as meteorologist on the station's weekend morning newscasts. Last year, she was promoted to the same gig on the station's weekday morning news show.

Before coming to Milwaukee, she spent nearly nine years at KEZI-TV in Eugene, Oregon, including as the station's chief meteorologist. At the time she left that job, she told viewers in Eugene that she was moving back to the Midwest to be closer to family.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to move back home. It is bittersweet though because I've loved my time at TMJ4 especially on the morning team and the weather team," Woloszyn said in Channel 4's story on her departure Wednesday. "I’m looking forward to being closer to family and giving my daughters the opportunity to spend time with their grandparents.”

Woloszyn, who grew up in Northville just west of Detroit, got her meteorology degree from Michigan State University, and was an intern at WXYZ in 2011. According to WXYZ, she'll be doing forecasts on weekend nights and during the week.
