Metro Detroit expected to get 2-4 inches of snow Monday, with temps in teens and low 20s
Bundle up and drive carefully. It's going to be a cold and snowy Monday.
A dusting of snow, with up to 4 inches of accumulation, is expected to fall throughout the day ending at about 8 p.m., said meteorologist Steve Considine with the National Weather Service.

That's not all that unusual for Michigan for this time of year, when winter temperatures tend to be their lowest, he said.
But, you know it's really cold when he says it's going to be "rising up" into the low to mid 20s in the afternoon — and the lows for the week, with wind chill, will range between 10 below and 10.
A winter weather advisory is in effect Monday for the I-69 and I-94 corridors. Widespread light snowfall will lead to snow covered and slippery roads, especially for the evening commute.

Snow on the way, but accumulation below average for January
The total snowfall for the month: 6 inches, about 8 inches below average. For the most part, there hasn't been enough moisture in the air to cause it, and last week a big snowstorm bypassed the area.
But "it's going to cold," Considine said, as if folks didn't already know that when they took the trash this morning and their faces felt an icy sting. "That cold air is going to be with us right until the end of the week."
