Metro Detroit snowfall makes for winter wonderland weekend

Metro Detroit welcomed a blanket of snow this weekend.

The National Weather Service issued a winterweather advisory on Saturday for metro Detroit, warning Michiganders of the accumulation of snow the region expected to receive.

Metro Detroit locations received snow totals ranging from 2 to 4 inches, said Kevin Kacan, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service's White Lake office.

While there was no report immediately available for the city of Detroit, surrounding suburbs reported these winter weather totals:

  • Berkeley: 3.1”

  • Farmington: 3.3”

  • Ypsilanti: 4.0”

  • Ann Arbor: 4.2”

  • Westland: 2.9”

  • Garden City: 3.3”

  • Romulus: 4.2”
