Actress and health advocate Selma Blair, who grew up in metro Detroit, will be among the celebrities competing on the new season of “Dancing with the Stars.”

The cast for the reality competition, which is moving from ABC to the Disney+ streaming platform, was revealed Thursday on “Good Morning America.”

Blair, who was born in Southfield and attended Hillel Day School and Cranbrook schools, has been open about her journey with multiple sclerosis since her diagnosis in 2018.  The 2021 documentary “Introducing, Selma Blair” focused on her stem cell transplant to treat the disease.

"I am beyond thrilled," she told “GMA” on Thursday morning. "Realizing the support of people, when you try, it's changed my life. So, to be here with this group — people I've never even met — this is a thrill. This is so powerful to me."

Earlier this year, Blair’s memoir, “Mean Baby,” was released. In it, she wrote candidly about her experiences with MS, alcoholism and sexual assault, including what she described as an incident of kissing and touching by an unidentified Cranbrook dean when she was a teenager.

Blair will be competing against “Real Housewives of New Jersey” alum Teresa Giudice, actor Wayne Brady, “Coda” star Daniel Durant, singer Jordin Sparks and “Charlie’s Angels” star Cheryl Ladd, among others.

Judges Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba and Derek Hough will be returning to the show. Host Tyra Banks will be joined by Alfonso Ribeiro, the new co-host and former winner of the live series in 2014.

"Dancing with the Stars" is scheduled to start season 31 on Sept. 19 on Disney+.
