Metro-east basketball teams were busy over the weekend. Here’s a roundup of 13 key games

The metro-east boys and girls basketball seasons continued with several key games Saturday.

Here is a quick view of some of the outcomes.

BOYS

Belleville West 63, Metro-East Lutheran 35

The Maroons cruised past the Knights in a 28-point victory.

Myles Liddell led Belleville West with 18 points, while Brandon Scott added 15 points and David Marshall Jr. scored 11 points. Belleville West improved to 11-12. Metro-East Lutheran dropped to 4-15.

Look ahead: Belleville West hosts Mascoutah at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Macaleab Rich led East St. Louis to a 12-point victory against the Cadets by collecting 25 points and 14 rebounds.

Antwan Robinson added 14 points for the Flyers, who improved to 17-4. The Cadets fell to 11-9.

Breese Central 61, Highland 43

The Cougars rolled past the Bulldogs with an 18-point victory.

Breese Central improved 22-3 overall while Highland dropped to 18-8.

Red Bud 55, Gibault 44

The Musketeers posted an 11-point victory over Hawks.

Mount Vernon 56, Mater Dei 37

The Rams notched a 19-point victory against the Knights.

Teutopolis 46, Breese Central 44

The Wooden Shoes got past the Cougars with a two-point victory.

Breese Central fell to 16-9.

Freeburg 62, Herculaneum 52

The Midgets downed the Black Cats by 10 points to claim the championship of the 42nd annual Hillsboro Invitational in Missouri.

Freeburg improved to 18-8 while recording its seventh-straight win.

Edwardsville 42, Civic Memorial 34

The Tigers posted an 8-point victory over the Eagles.

Edwardsville improved to 11-12 overall, while Civic Memorial fells to 13-14.

Nashville 47, Mater Dei 38

The Hornettes coasted to a nine-point victory over the Knights.

Nashville improved to 9-9 overall while Mater Dei dropped to 17-6.

Mascoutah 68, Waterloo 63, OT

The Indians went on to a five-point victory over the Bulldogs in overtime.

Norah Gum led Waterloo with 24 points, while Sam Lindhorst posted 16 points. The Indians outscored the Bulldogs by seven points in the fourth quarter and by five in overtime to prevail.

Mascoutah improves to 18-7 overall and 6-2 in the Mississippi Valley Conference while Waterloo fell to 15-10, 4-4.
