Freeway improvement work will require the closure of some Arizona freeways over the weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Central I-10 segment closed, ramps affected

  • Westbound Interstate 10 will be closed between U.S. 60 and State Route 143 from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday for bridge construction as part of the I-10 Broadway Curve Improvement Project.

  • The westbound U.S. 60 ramps to westbound I-10 will be closed, as will the westbound I-10 on-ramps at Elliot and Baseline roads. The westbound U.S. 60 on-ramps at McClintock Drive, Rural Road and Mill Avenue will also be closed.

  • The westbound I-10 ramp to eastbound U.S. 60 will be closed from 4 a.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday.

  • The westbound I-10 on-ramp at Baseline Road and off-ramp to northbound State Route 143 will also be closed until 4 a.m. Monday.

  • The northbound State Route 143 off-ramp at University Drive will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Sunday.

I-10 narrowed between Elliot and Warner

  • Eastbound I-10 toward Tucson will be narrowed to three lanes between Elliot and Warner roads from Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 4 a.m. for pavement work.

  • The eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Elliot Road and eastbound off-ramp at Warner Road will be closed.

Buckeye I-10 narrowing

  • I-10 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions near the State Route 85 interchange in Buckeye from Friday at 9 p.m. until Sunday at 9 p.m. for a widening project.

  • The westbound I-10 off-ramp at Watson Road will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday. Southbound Watson Road will also be closed at I-10 during the ramp closures.

  • The northbound State Route 85 ramp to eastbound I-10 and the eastbound I-10 ramp to southbound State Route 85 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday until Sept. 30.

Delays along I-17

  • Interstate 17 will be narrowed to two lanes in both directions between Dunlap and Peoria avenues from Friday at 10 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m. This restriction will also occur overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday next week.

Drivers should plan for restrictions, allow extra time and check for alternative routes.

State Route 238 is closed in its entirety between Gila Bend and State Route 347 in Maricopa due to flooding, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route. There is no estimated time to reopen the highway.
