Mets vs Cardinals Highlights: Errors, unearned runs do in Stroman in 4-1 loss

In game 1 of the doubleheader Wednesday, the Mets lost 4-1 to Cardinals, including as many errors as hits. Marcus Stroman allowed two unearned runs for second straight start.

- Arenado drops it. Rolls over. Everybody's safe! How about that? The greatest third baseman in the world was trying for a 5-5-3 double play, and he dropped the ball. And the Mets get a run.

- 5-5-2. That's why-- that's why I think [INAUDIBLE]. He's out at third.

- He's gonna be out. He picked up the ball with his foot on the bag, so that's going to be an out at third base. Yup. They're going to review that play for sure.

Stroman ahead of him 0 and 2.

Struck him out! Stroman strikes out three in a row and strands two in scoring position. Big inning for Stroman to keep it a 1-run game.

A high fly ball, deep left-center. Back in the gap. Villar near the wall, and he can't get it! It's a home run! Paul DeJong strikes again. His seventh home run of the year, his 10th against the Mets, and the Cardinals stretch their lead to 4-1.

Yanked down to first base. Goldschmidt's got it, and that's how the first game concludes. The Mets are limited to just two singles in game 1. The final seven Mets were retired.

2-run homer by Paul DeJong put the game away. Paul Goldschmidt also homers. And the Cardinals win the opener of the doubleheader 4 to 1.
