Mexican Cartel Kidnapping Survivor Who Made Headlines Last Month Arrested For Involvement With Fight Including Her Daughter

Latavia Washington McGee, a South Carolina resident kidnapped by a Mexican cartel last month, is facing charges for her alleged involvement in the delinquency of a minor.

According to WBTV, an arrest warrant states the 34-year-old and her under-18 daughters went to an apartment complex in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to fight with another minor. However, a family member removed the child from the situation.

The Myrtle Beach Police officers arrived on the scene after being called about a disturbance at the residence. Police say a victim and witness told them that “the girls from the earlier fight had returned with their mother and grandmother.”

WBTV reported the victim also told authorities he tried to stop the fight by telling the girls to go inside, but McGee’s mother grabbed his shirt and hit him in the face. Officers did not see any other injuries on the victim.

The victim added McGee’s mother pulled a “small black pistol” from her bag “and started waving it around.”

A witness confirmed the victim’s story. However, they couldn’t describe what the mother (McGee) and the grandmother (McGee’s mother) look like.

“Everything happened so fast,” they both remarked.

The only detail they could provide the police was that McGee, her mother and her daughters left the scene in a cream-colored Lexus SUV.

Authorities have reviewed footage of the incident, which helped them identify McGee and her family. McGee was arrested Friday and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She was released Sunday on a $10,000 bond.

As Blavity reported, McGee, Zindell Brown, Shaeed Woodard and Eric Williams were kidnapped by rogue members of the Scorpions faction of the Gulf cartel. The organization’s leader penned a letter apologizing for the incident, explaining that the members who committed the crime were not acting on their orders.
