Dominick's drops sale price. Mexican, Italian places coming. Local bites, brews at Blues & Jazz Fest

A new restaurant, Pueblo Real, has been inspected and licensed at 8155 West Ridge Road in Girard. The owner said he expects to open by Sept. 1. The Mexican restaurant has sister locations in Conneaut and Jefferson, Ohio.

New Italian place coming

The former IHOP at 2933 W. 12th St., which is owned by Scott Enterprises, is slated to open as a new restaurant in spring of 2023, according to Nick Scott Sr., president of the company.

"It's been delayed as we wait to see what the economy is doing," Scott said Monday, "But all along we've been planning an Italian restaurant with the name of Roma's, but that still might change. We're still researching and planning for that."

Brews, food trucks set for fest

Don't pack your lunch for the Blues & Jazz fest this year. The vendors will be ready and waiting, including Lake Erie Ale Trail members The Brewerie at Union Station, Erie Ale Works, Erie Brewing Co., Lavery Brewing Co., Riverside Brewing Co., and Voodoo Brewery. Food vendors will include Dickey’s BBQ Pit, E. Dogg’s Hot Dogs, Buckeye Chocolate, Cold Stone Creamery, The Big Cheese, Lombardo’s, and The Mad Tortilla. Offerings will include vegan/vegetarian options.

Peachy keen

If you like peaches, grab your red pen and circle the last two weekends in August and make your way to Courtyard Winery, 10021 W. Main Road, North East, where they'll be serving up peach shortcakes and slushies made from locally grown peaches.
