This exhibit marks 200 years of Mexico’s independence from Spain
Location: Mexico City, Mexico
'The Greatness of Mexico' displays over 1,500 historical artifacts
from Mayan, Toltec, Teotihuacan, Aztec and Mixtec cultures
(SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) CURATOR OF EXHIBITION "THE GREATNESS OF MEXICO," KARINA ROMERO, SAYING:
"The exhibition is made up of four main cluster themes. The first one is 'territory,' and we chose it as a starting point because this is perhaps the coercive element for us as Mexicans; understanding we do not have an identity, but many Mexicos exist. It's not about a melting pot, but instead a cultural mosaic that forms this country, where our land is found and helps us feel we belong.''
The pieces are temporarily on loan from museums around the world
