New Mexican restaurant comes to Brewster. Here's what we know about the menu, takeout.

A new Mexican restaurant opened on July 11 in Brewster, in the location that formerly housed Guapo's Tortilla Shack.

Pico's Taco Shack, at 239 Underpass Road, serves different types of tacos, including Baja fish, chicken, birria al pastor, ribeye, and a vegetarian option. There are also larger meals, such as the Cape Cod Fish ‘n’ Chip Burrito.

"We are just here to try to serve the community of Brewster, give everyone good food, and just expand from there. Support the community, we're here for anything you would like us to do, help our neighbors, whatever the case may be," owner and manager Bernardo Macedo said during a July 10 Brewster Select Board meeting.

The board granted the establishment the common victualler license required to open.

A representative from the restaurant could not be reached for comment.

Its hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. except for Fridays and Saturdays, when the restaurant will stay open until 9 p.m.

According to a lease that runs from July 1 to June 30, 2025, the property is owned by Miami Stuff, LLC in South Harwich. Over the course of the lease, Pico's Taco Shack will pay $96,000 in rent.

During the meeting, Macedo said the restaurant will not have indoor seating.

"All I'm trying to do is just take-out: quick, easy. Come in, grab your food, we'll provide seats outside, and you are more than welcome to do whatever you'd like to do. Either stay or go," said Macedo.
