New Mexican restaurant filling former Alvarez Restaurant site near CherryVale Mall

If you have been hoping another Mexican eatery would move into the old Alvarez Restaurant site, you are in luck.

Marquense's Mexican Bar & Grill will soon open in the vacant 5,700-square-foot building at 1600 S. Bell School Road.

Restaurant co-owners Cesar Agustin and Yony De Leon are busy painting the exterior and remodeling the spacious dining room and bar with plans to open in late September or early October.

Agustin said the restaurant will offer authentic freshly made Mexican and American foods such as fajitas, burritos, enchiladas, chimichangas, quesadillas, as well as T-bone and ribeye steaks, seafood and a large variety of adult drinks.

Augustin said he plans to open with six or seven employees and will hire more as needed.

In addition to providing jobs, he said, "When customers eat here, I want them to feel like family and for this to be their home away from their homes."

Meanwhile, for a better idea of what's on the menu and the family atmosphere Agustin hopes to create, you can visit his other restaurant, El Patron Mexican Grill in Edgerton, Wisconsin.

Alvarez Restaurant, nearly a 30-year fixture on South Bell School Road, closed in March.
