New Mexicans dig Minecraft: building simulator ranked #1 sandbox game in several states, study reveals

Oct. 18—Minecraft ranked as the top most searched video game in New Mexico, according to a study conducted by solitaired.com, an online gaming platform offering classic games such as solitaire, FreeCell, Mahjong and Yahtzee.

The study analyzed 1,752 Google search terms related to video game titles from April 2020 to April 2023 and surveyed 1,006 self-identified gamers who played handheld console games, esports and virtual reality games in June of this year, a news release stated.

The release said respondents were 18 to 60 years old, 50% of them were men, 48% were women and 2% were non-binary.

Minecraft is the most popular video game not only in New Mexico but also in 11 other states, including Alaska, Florida, North Dakota and Utah, to name a few.
