Mexico City wheelchair users rally for more accessibility

STORY: The rally, organized by Independent Living Mexico VIM organization, called for the government to do more in helping those using wheelchairs.

"Being in a wheelchair does not prevent us from doing certain things. We have virtues, capacities and those are things we can show ourselves and others,” said Blanca Lorena Torres, one of those who took part in Sunday's rally.

VIM aims to help with those with motor disabilities integrate into society by offering services such as physical and psychological rehab and by teaching people how to use a wheelchair.

Sunday's rally took place during Mexico City's "Sunday Rides" – a weekly event that sees several streets in the capital shut down to vehicles, which allows cyclists, skateboarders and pedestrians to move freely.
