New Mexico Corrections Department processes ‘Rust’ armorer Hannah Gutierrez

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez was processed by the New Mexico Corrections Department Wednesday morning. The department released Gutierrez’s latest mug shot, which showed that she is being incarcerated at the Western New Mexico Correctional Facility (WNMCF) in the City of Grants.

Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer sentenced Gutierrez to 18 months in prison on April 15, after she was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Gutierrez is required to serve at least 85% of her sentence.

Actor Alec Baldwin is also facing involuntary manslaughter for the deadly shooting of Hutchins during a rehearsal at a movie-set ranch near Santa Fe in October 2021. Baldwin, the lead actor and co-producer for the Western movie “Rust,” was handling a prop gun that was unknowingly loaded with a real bullet. The gun fired on set, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza.

Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to the involuntary manslaughter charge. His legal team has asked Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer to dismiss the charge but a decision has not been made yet. Baldwin’s trial is set to begin in July.
