New Mexico leaders testify on vaccine rollout in Senate hearing

One of the state’s top doctors took questions from lawmakers across the United States on Thursday and she wasn’t the only person representing the New Mexico. New Mexico US Senator Ben Ray Lujan chaired this committee with senators asking health care workers from across the country how they were handling the pandemic and vaccinations. Dr. Tracie Collins, with the New Mexico Department of Health was asked how New Mexico is getting the vaccine out to rural parts of the state, and tracking people who don’t want the shot and why. “We are definitely using our dashboard and track how many people are getting registered, and we are working closely with community leaders to understand what’s behind anyone who is refusing the vaccine,” Dr. Colling said.
