Chart-topping Mexican singer Peso Pluma is making a stop in Sacramento.

Born Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija, the singer will perform July 9 at Golden 1 Center as part of his 31-city Doble P Tour. The 24-year-old is at the forefront of the regional Mexican music scene and making history with each passing day.

Peso Pluma, whose moniker translates as Featherweight, became the first Mexican artist to hit No. 1 on the Spotify Global Top Songs chart. This year, eight of his songs have landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. And in April, Peso Pluma performed his hit “Ella Baila Sola” at “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” — yet another first for a regional Mexican act.

The artist arrives in a moment where regional Mexican music, a largely acoustic, traditional sound, is quickly gaining popularity around the world. Acts like Natanael Cano, Grupo Frontera, Fuerza Regida and Junior H have also toiled their way up the charts.

Sacramento tickets for Peso Pluma range from $80, before taxes, in the upper sections to $3,500 in the first row. The performance begins at 8 pm.

The show will likely feature songs from his latest album “Génesis,” which was released June 22. The album set records in its debut week on Apple Music and Spotify, including generating the most streams in a single day for a Mexican music album.

Peso Pluma will also make stops at Reno Events Center on Sept. 28 and SAP Center in San Jose on Oct. 13.
