New Mexico Tech moves tech transfer office to Nusenda Credit Union in Socorro

Oct. 3—New Mexico Tech's Technology Commercialization Accelerator will occupy space along with university startup companies adjacent to Nusenda Credit Union on Socorro's main commercial street, in an agreement announced last week by the university and Nusenda.

The California Street location raises the profile of the school's Office of Innovation Commercialization, which seeks to commercialize technologies developed at New Mexico Tech, and allows it to be "a robust, visible entity" in Socorro, New Mexico Tech President Stephen Wells said in a news release.

"This partnership helps build on the success that NMT inventors have achieved by providing a workspace for them to grow their commercialization efforts," Wells said in the release. "This agreement and partnership between New Mexico Tech and Nusenda Credit Union is the next step in the effort to promote an entrepreneurial culture on the Tech campus."

Nusenda is the largest credit union in New Mexico.

New Mexico Tech created its Office of Innovation Commercialization in 2017 to instill an entrepreneurial culture on campus to commercialize technology created at New Mexico Tech.
