Meyersdale Homecoming events include alumni paraphernalia

Meyersdale Area High School Homecoming 2022 promises to be more exciting than ever with activities being held throughout the week.New this year will be a special open house for all Meyersdale fans from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Oct. 7. The halls of the high school will be open and decorated for alumni to visit. Displays of memorabilia will be on display and the gym will be decorated for the annual Homecoming dance. Homecoming banners will also be on display. This event will be hosted by the student council and Sideline Club.“We are so excited to open our doors and welcome our alumni and community into our school,” said Patti Shaulis, student council adviser.Organizers are asking alumni to share their photographs, newspaper clippings or even apparel to be displayed during the open house. Start searching those attics and basements and help them put together a display befitting a centennial celebration. For those who have an item to loan for this event, contact 814-634-8311 ext. 323. The deadline to loan items is Sept. 30. All items will be carefully tagged and cataloged to ensure safe return to their owners.“We are really excited to announce that some of your favorite Red Raider coaches will be in attendance. Don’t miss this chance to come out and visit your school and share your favorite Red Raider memories with your coaches, classmates and teammates,” said Shaulis.Those in attendance at the open house will serve as the official judges for the Homecoming banner contest. The winner will be announced during the Homecoming game later that evening. Light refreshments will be served.“We hope people come out and enjoy this opportunity to reminisce, celebrate the Raiders of the past and support the Raiders of the present and future,” Shaulis said.

Athletes of the month

Cody Hause and Anna Grandas were selected as the Boswell Jaycees Athlete of the Month for September.Both are seniors at North Star High School. Hause is the son of Angie Hause, Boswell. He is in the all honors course at school and participates in football and the Homecoming court.Anna Grandas is the daughter of Stacy and Frank Grandas, Hooversville. She is an all honors student who participates in volleyball and is on the Homecoming court. She is the senior class secretary.

Class sells magazine subscriptions

The Meyersdale Area High School Class of 2024 is holding its annual magazine and cookie dough sale, that began Sept. 12. The sale will continue throughout the month and all orders and money are due by Sept. 27.The sale features more than 200 magazine titles and the ordering process is simple. Renewals of magazines are also available. New magazine subscriptions will begin in January, while renewals will be based on the individual subscription details. Subscriptions can be ordered online by visiting www.funderworks.com, using the group online code MEYERSDALE. Enter the student’s name for prize credit.Six varieties of cookie dough will be available for sale. Cookie dough can be purchased in scoop and bake tubs or in pre-portioned boxes. Cookie dough orders will be delivered at the end of October.Proceeds from this annual sale will benefit the yearbook, Hi Point; and the junior-senior prom, which will be held in the spring.In addition, students will be eligible for various prizes based, including cash prizes, on the number of orders they record.
