MHSAA 3A Mr. and Miss Basketball: Southeast Lauderdale's Demondre Graham and Booneville's Sa'niya Cook

The MHSAA and Mississippi Association of Coaches announced the Mr. and Miss Basketball award winners for Class 3A on Saturday: Southeast Lauderdale's Demondre Graham and Booneville's Sa'niyah Cook.

Graham was named the Class 3A-Region 5 MVP after helping the Tigers advance to the district title game. He averages 22 points, five rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. Southeast Lauderdale (21-4) rolled to a 65-38 victory over Franklin County in the first round of the playoffs and face Tylertown in the second round on Saturday.

Cook helped lead the defending state champions to a 27-3 start this season while averaging 18 points, eight rebounds and four blocks. The Blue Devils won the district championship with a 39-29 victory over Alcorn Central then cruised to double-digit victories over Winona and Nettleton in the first two rounds of the state playoffs.

Booneville will face Yazoo County at Itawamba Community College on Friday in the Class 3A quarterfinals.

The MHSAA will announce the Class 4A Mr. and Miss Basketball award winners Sunday.
