There can be little doubt that Mia Tindall has inherited her mother’s love of horse racing.

The nine-year-old daughter of Olympic equestrian Zara Tindall, and great-granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II, was transfixed as she watched the racing at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.

Standing on the balcony alongside her cousins, Savannah and Isla Phillips, Mia put on an animated display, yelling and grabbing the railings as she watched the track in deep concentration.

Savannah, who turned 13 on Friday, and Isla, 11, the daughters of Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly, laughed and cheered as they watched.

Siblings Zara and Peter were both at the event, as was the Tindalls’ younger daughter, Lena, five.

At one point, Mr Phillips leaned back to take a photograph of the elder three girls on the balcony.

Both Mike and Zara Tindall are keen racing fans, attending most major meetings throughout the year.

Equestrian Zara won an Olympic silver medal in eventing at London 2012. Her mother, the Princess Royal, was also a skilled horsewoman, winning the individual championship at Burghley in 1971 and competing in the 1976 Montreal Olympics as a three-day eventer in the British equestrian team.
