MIAA releases first high school boys and girls basketball tournament power rankings

The MIAA released its first high school tournament power rankings for the winter season on Friday.

The rankings include all scores entered into Arbiter Live (the MIAA's schedule website) as of 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13. The top-32 ranked teams in each division automatically qualify for a tournament spot. Any team outside the top 32 with a winning percentage of .500 or better also gets into the tournament.

The MIAA plans to update the rankings every Tuesday and Friday throughout the rest of the winter season.

In boys basketball, Division 4 has the most Cape Cod flavor with four locals currently in the field. Bourne, also in Div. 4, is the highest-seeded team currently at No. 8. The Mashpee girls were the highest-ranked area team, coming in at No. 6 in Div. 4.
