MIAA releases first high school boys and girls hockey tournament power rankings

The MIAA released its first high school tournament power rankings for the winter season on Friday.

The rankings include all scoeres entered into Arbiter Live (the MIAA's schedule website) as of 4 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 13. The top-32 ranked teams in each division automatically qualify for a tournament spot. Any team outside the top 32 with a winning percentage of .500 or better also gets into the tournament.

The MIAA plans to update the rankings every Tuesday and Friday throughout the rest of the winter season.

In boys hockey, the Cape is well represented. Defending Division 4 state champion is the area's highest-ranked team, coming in at No. 2. Nantucket, Dennis-Yarmouth and Bourne are also in the top 10 in Div. 4. Nauset is currently No. 3 in Div. 3.

In girls hockey, both Sandwich and Falmouth are currently in the top 10 in Div. 2
