Miami 2024 football schedule (with dates) released. Manny Diaz homecoming, FSU and more

Get out your pencils, pens, crayons, markers or whatever you use to circle the University of Miami football dates on your calendars.

The Hurricanes schedule, including previously unreleased dates, was released Wednesday evening by the Atlantic Coast Conference — along with schedules for the rest of the 17 ACC teams that beginning in 2024 will include SMU, Cal and Stanford.

No kickoff times were announced.

First, the archrival nemesis: The Canes will face Florida State (13-1 in 2023) at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 26. With a new quarterback in vaunted Washington State transfer Cam Ward, and several other new players who have either transferred or recently arrived in time to participate in spring football, Miami will be primed for that game. Hard to forget that UM lost 27-20 in Tallahassee a couple months ago, when freshman Canes quarterback Emory Williams sustained a compound fracture of his left arm.

As was previously made public, the Canes (7-6 in 2023), will open the season Saturday, Aug. 31, against the Florida Gators (5-7) at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in a nonconference matchup. It’s the first time the teams are meeting since UM fell 24-20 in the 2019 Camping World Kickoff.

Miami will close the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 30, inside the JMA Wireless Dome at Syracuse (6-7). It might be freezing outside, but the Canes will be heated up. UM’s last game against Syracuse was a 27-19 home victory in 2017.

Another important 2024 date: Friday, Sept. 27, when UM’s first of eight conference games will be played against the Virginia Tech Hokies (7-6) at Hard Rock – the only non-Saturday game of the season.

UM’s first cross-country trip in the new ACC format will be at Cal Berkeley (6-7) on Saturday, Oct. 5. That trip will be made a bit easier because the previous week’s game against the Hokies is on Friday, giving the Canes an extra day on the front end. And the Saturday, Oct. 12 date following Cal is the first of two UM bye weeks.

Miami’s second open date is Saturday, Nov. 16, one week after a Nov. 9 road game in Atlanta at Georgia Tech (7-6).

Finally, regarding dates to circle, the Nov. 2 home game against Duke (8-5) will welcome back previous Hurricanes coach and Miami native Manny Diaz, Duke’s new head coach.

UM never plays more than two weeks in a row at home or on the road.
