MIAMI, FL — More than 2,000 people in the Miami area were expected to get a helping hand from a drive-thru food distribution program Thursday.

"In response to the impact of COVID-19, Farm Share is hosting its largest food distribution to date," organizers of the event said.

The food distribution program runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the east parking lot of the Golden Glades Park and Ride.

“Farm Share’s food distributions would not be possible without donations, so we kindly ask everyone that can contribute to text “EAT” to 41-444 or visit FarmShare.org to help us continue supporting those impacted by the COVID-19," said Farm Share CEO Stephen Shelley.

The packages include:

  • Fresh produce
  • Non-perishables canned goods
  • Proteins; canned/frozen
  • Meals Ready to Eat
  • Bottled water

The event is being operated in partnership with the cities of North Miami Beach, Miami Gardens, Opa-locka and Miami-Dade County.

"This is a drive-thru only distribution to minimize contact and ensure the safety of all parties," organizers explained. "To obtain food, attendees must arrive in a vehicle with a trunk or cargo bed."
