A Miami company recalls Cachapas de Maiz aka sweet corn pancakes after a dangerous error
Cachapas de Maiz Paisa aka Paisa’s Sweet Corn Pancakes got recalled Thursday after a mistake that created a serious problem for some consumers.
The recall alert by Tama Corporation out of Miami’s Doral suburb says “a labeling error” caused 32 lots of the Venezuelan food to go out without warnings that it contains soy, wheat and Yellow No. 5. While that means nothing to most people, it creates a possible “serious or life-threatening” situation for people with a wheat allergy, a soy allergy or a food coloring allergy, who depend on food ingredient labels to help them avoid dangerous allergens.

The lot numbers can be found next to the best by date.
If you have these cachapas packs and there’s no chance of them being eaten by anyone with wheat, soy or food coloring allergies, carry on as normal. Otherwise, take them back to the store and get your money back.
