The agreement will allow the Miami County Sheriff’s Office to rent eight pole cameras and receive two years of the Flock technology program.

Sheriff Dave Duchak told News Center 7 that the cameras will be placed throughout the county within the next two months.

The cameras will automatically recognize license plates, according to the resolution from Thursday’s meeting.

Duchak noted that some detectives and deputies had access to Flock cameras over the winter months to learn about their benefits and that several property crimes were solved using the cameras.

“In addition to assisting in solving crimes it is an invaluable tool for locating missing children on Amber alerts, missing seniors, and welfare checks for those who are in mental health crisis and in a vehicle. It has real time applicability,” Duchak said.

The two-year agreement will cost $42,800.
