New Miami Dolphins 7-round mock bolsters skill players with speed
The Miami Dolphins’ offseason success feels destined to be determined by how well the team is able to build up the supporting cast for their young quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa. The discussion around Miami’s team is rooted in the struggle to find explosive plays and how much of a hard time the Dolphins had creating separation and room to work in space.
So expect the Dolphins to pay plenty of attention to that — and expect the mock drafts of the coming months to also reflect Miami’s needs along the skill positions. The latest Miami Dolphins mock draft, which comes courtesy of The Draft Network, does not disappoint.
TDN has released a 7-round Miami Dolphins mock draft as a part of a 32-team series making picks for each of the league’s franchises and if the narrative for the Dolphins dictates that better skill players are needed, this proposition seems to have gotten the message.
The complete list of selections for the mock draft are as follows:
No. 3 overall – WR DeVonta Smith, Alabama
No. 18 overall – LB Zaven Collins, Tulsa
No. 36 overall – RB Travis Etienne, Clemson
No. 50 overall – OG Deonte Brown, Alabama
No. 83 overall – OT Spencer Brown, Northern Iowa
No. 123 overall – WR Dazz Newsome, North Carolina
No. 199 overall – EDGE Chris Rumph II, Duke
No. 205 overall – SAF JaCoby Stevens, LSU
No. 258 overall – RB Khalil Herbert, Virginia Tech
Smith, Etienne and Newsome, plus whatever free agent additions the Dolphins can wrangle, would certainly be considered an upgrade over what the team has offered their quarterbacks in 2019 and 2020. Will it turn out this way? Or will Miami ultimately embrace moving and shaking up and down the draft board to be more aggressive (or, alternatively, add more picks for the future)? There’s plenty of time for the Dolphins to come up with their preferred approach, but we certainly wouldn’t mind this one if it came down to it.
