On one hand, the Miami Dolphins are on a two-game winning streak and will face a two-win team quarterbacked by Joe Flacco.

On the other, the Dolphins won those two games over a five-day stretch and might not have that momentum anymore heading into Sunday's game at the New York Jets.

Tua Tagovailoa took over midway through last week's big Dolphins win over Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens (though the star of the game was clearly lineman Robert Hunt). Now all of a sudden, there's a path for Miami (3-7) to return to the playoff picture.

That path would include beating the 2-7 Jets twice over the next five weeks. With Zach Wilson still on the mend, the Jets are turning to the veteran Flacco, acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade last month. While Xavien Howard and the Dolphins defense has improved over the past few weeks, the Jets have remained among the worst in the NFL.

Will the Dolphins' streak continue? Here's what national NFL reporters and experts are predicting:

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News: Jets 23-20

The Jets have their wins against the Titans and Bengals at home. Here's another opportunity for Robert Saleh's team to add a confidence-building game in a pure rebuilding season. New York might have a healthy Zach Wilson. Miami may feel good about Tua Tagovailoa starting again. But the Jets have had the better rushing attack of late while the Dolphins can't exploit the Jets in the same way as much. The Jets overall have suddenly more reliable weapons, too, than the Dolphins do.

Brent Soblesky, Bleacher Report: Dolphins 28-17

Miami's recent success is predicated on how well its defense is currently playing. The Dolphins allowed 19 total points over the last two weeks. The Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens averaged 288 yards per game during Miami's two-game winning streak. The Jets now face the same defensive buzzsaw with plenty of uncertainty at the quarterback position.

Will Brinson, CBS Sports: Dolphins 17-10

We betting on Joe Flacco or against him? What are the Jets doing???? This is a long-suffering fanbase, and if you give them a sniff of competency, they immediately start Joe Flacco in 2021. I'm not sure there's a real-life relationship equivalent. Maybe asking your spouse to vacuum the living room before your parents come and instead said spouse sets the living room on fire? The weird thing is the Jets are only three-point dogs at home. If you look at the numbers here it's impossible to argue for the Jets. Miami is pressuring a league-high 35% of the time and the Jets are bottom five in pressure rate allowed. The Jets are bottom 10 in every major passing category defensively. Tua Tagovailoa was limited Wednesday, but in reading his and the coaching staff quotes he should be good to go. The only argument here for the Jets is "weird stuff happens" or "it was cold for the Florida team." How do you bet on that versus "bet against 36-year-old Joe Flacco"?

Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk: Dolphins 27-17

Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, Mike White, Joe Namath, Ken O’Brien, whatever. The Jets are dysfunctional and the Dolphins are trying to fight their way through dysfunction.

Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Dolphins 30-20

For a team that had been beaten 35-0 and 45-17 earlier in the season, the Dolphins were mighty impressive dominating the Ravens with the speed and pressure of their defense. Conversely, the Jets have allowed 45 points in each of their past two games and 175 in the past four.

Gregg Rosenthal, NFL.com: Dolphins 23-16

Robert Saleh gave an impassioned defense of quarterback Mike White on Monday that had me nodding my head. White does deserve better! Give him another chance! Then the Jets decided to start Joe Flacco for this game because he's seen more zero blitzes in his life, including when the Jets were shut out by the Dolphins a year ago. I'm picking against Gang Green on principle now because no one wins if Flacco is the best Jets quarterback for a second straight year. Miami's offense, meanwhile, has played considerably better with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback, where he will be for this game.

Bill Bender, Sporting News: Jets 23-20

The Jets have given up 43.8 points per game in their last four games, and Mike White is coming off a four-interception performance against Buffalo. The Dolphins' defense showed up against Baltimore, but the offense has the same struggles, too.

Michael David Smith, Pro Football Talk: Dolphins 24-16

The schedule sets up for the Dolphins to look a lot better in the second half of the season than they did in the first half. Not so much because the Dolphins will play better, but because their opponents are worse.

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: Dolphins 23-10

The Dolphins have won two straight games to get to 3-7 and beat Baltimore with an impressive defensive showing last week. That defense will make things tough for whoever plays quarterback for the Jets. The Dolphins are banged up at quarterback, but it looks like Tua Tagovailoa will be back. They will win behind their defense.
