Miami is the lone ACC team to advance to the Sweet 16
The 2022-23 college basketball season was considered a “down” year for the Atlantic Coast Conference, which had only five teams in the tournament. That included Pitt and NC State as No. 11 seeds, and the Panthers playing in one of the First Four games.
As we head into the Sweet 16, the ACC has the same number of teams left as the Big Ten: one. The lone team left is the Miami Hurricanes.
After taking down No. 12 Drake on Friday, the Hurricanes had a hot start against No. 4 Indiana, held off a second-half push and pulled away for a double-digit win. Miami’s win over the Hoosiers gives the ACC a team in the Sweet 16 in every tournament since 1980.

After two rounds, the ACC is 5-4 in this tournament.
The Hurricanes earned a share of the ACC regular-season title with Virginia. Despite falling short in the ACC tournament, they are primed for a run this year.
The win over Indiana advances Miami to face No. 1 Houston with a trip to the Elite Eight on the line. With two No. 1 seeds already going down, the Hurricanes are hoping to make it three and keep the momentum going.
