Miami police respond to shooting incidents at Bayfront Park late on Christmas night

Two shooting incidents near Bayfront Park late Friday and early Saturday left a man with a gunshot wound to his leg and a woman with a bullet graze to her arm.

At about 10:30 p.m. Friday, police responded to reports of gunfire at Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 2nd Street, a Miami police spokeswoman said. Arriving officers encountered the woman, who refused medical attention; Miami fire units nevertheless were dispatched. A vehicle at the scene also appeared to have been hit by gunfire. None of the passengers inside was struck, the spokeswoman said.

Three individuals of interest were detained, the spokeswoman said.

Then, at about 12:08 a.m. Saturday, another apparent shooting near the first incident left the wounded man in unknown condition.

As of 12:40 a.m., detectives were still working to confirm whether the second shooting was related to the first.

Saturday morning, Miami police spokeswoman Kiara Delva said she “cannot confirm whether both scenes will be related and if any arrest were made.”

Delva did confirm that officers found a man who appeared to have been suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg at Biscayne and Northeast 2nd after midnight.

Police are still investigating and cleared the scene near Bayside Marketplace around 9 a.m.

This is a developing story.
